Connecting to a Virtual Private Network (VPN) provides users access to network resources from an off-campus location.  Follow these steps to set-up the VPN on a Mac computer.  Open System Preferences/Settings, and click on Network Click the dropdown arrow on the lower right on the Network window Select Add VPN Configuration Select L2TP over IPSec under VPN Type Create the VPN Configuration Type a description for the VPN in the Service Name box (for example, MSTATE VPN) Server Address: Server address for Faculty and Staff - vpn2.minnesota.edu  Type your ad\YourStarID in the Account Name text box Type your StarID password in the Password text box Select Shared Secret for Machine authentication and type vpn@mstate in the text box Select Options Check "Send all traffic over VPN connection" box Click Create Click VPN & Filters Click the toggle to connect to MState VPN Browse our Services Submit a Service Request Contact Us
