Office 365 applications, multi-factor authentication and Outlook email for students
Student email accounts are created in Outlook within 24 hours after a student enrolls in classes.
To access your 海角社区黑料吃瓜 student Outlook email:
- Log in to SpartanNet with your StarID and password.
- Select "Email and Office 365."
- Log in with YourStarID@go.minnstate.edu. The password is your StarID password.
To update your StarID password, visit .
The format of your Outlook student email account will be: firstname.lastname@go.minnesota.edu. All 海角社区黑料吃瓜 correspondence will be sent to this email address once you are enrolled in classes.
Office 365 apps
To access Office 365 applications (OneDrive, Word, Excel, SharePoint):

- Once logged in, click on Install Office Apps and run. This will walk you through the process of downloading all of the applications to your laptop or PC.
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) in Office 365
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a method of authentication that requires the use of more than one verification method and adds a second layer of security to user sign-ins and transactions.
It works by requiring you to log in and then use one of these verification methods:
- A randomly generated pass code or use of an authenticator app
- A phone call and press of the # key needed to verify
For the best experience 鈥 make sure you have Office 365 Pro Plus installed on your computer.

What if I don鈥檛 have my phone/device available?
When you are logging into Office 365, if you can鈥檛 receive the six-digit code or use the authenticator app because you don鈥檛 have your device with you:
- Select 鈥淪ign in another way鈥
- Choose to have Microsoft call your office phone
- Answer the phone and press the # key to log in
How do I change my MFA settings?
You can change your MFA settings at any time by visiting or .
Please note that using your personal device for MFA is not tracked in any way and does not put your device at risk of being requested/taken by anyone. It is simply a tool used to prove that it is you logging in and not someone else.
